Truck Warning Lights Meaning

1 ~ 2. Left & Right Turn Signals

When the left and right turn signals of the truck are turned on, the corresponding turn signal indicators will flash at a certain frequency. When the double flashing warning light button is pressed, the two lights will light up at the same time. When the turn signal goes out, the indicator light goes off automatically.

3. Oil Pressure Warning Light

The oil pressure warning light is on when the oil level is insufficient. It is necessary to stop immediately and turn off the engine, check whether the oil quantity is sufficient, and replenish it as soon as possible if it is not enough. If the engine oil is sufficient and the warning light is still on, there are several possibilities: insufficient oil pump pressure, blockage of the oil pump filter, blockage of the oil circuit, low oil viscosity, failure of the oil pressure sensor, etc. You need to contact a professional for maintenance.

4. Brake Warning Light

This indicator light will come on when there is a malfunction in the brake system. The driver should stop immediately and check the truck brake system. Including brakes, brake air pressure, brake pump, etc.

5. Parking Brake Warning Light

When the handbrake is in the parking brake position, the light is on; when the handbrake is released, the light is off. Make sure the light is off before the truck starts moving.

6 ~ 7. Trailer Left & Right Turn Signal Indicator Lamp

Trailer turn signal indicators are usually associated with the turn signal system of the tractor truck. The light also illuminates when the tractor truck’s turn signal is on, alerting other vehicles and pedestrians that the trailer is turning.

8. Seat Belt Warning Light

When the truck is started, if the driver or passenger is not wearing a seat belt, the seat belt warning light will remain on or flash, and will go out after fastening the seat belt.

9. Coolant Temperature Warning Light

The light will be solid or flashing if the temperature of the truck coolant is outside the normal range. At this time, stop the car and check the water level and quality of the coolant to ensure the normal operation of the cooling system.

10. Charging System Warning Light

If the indicator light is still on after the engine starts, it is necessary to repair and check the generator and circuit as soon as possible, so as to avoid the failure of the truck to start due to the exhaustion of battery power.

11. High Beam Indicator

This indicator light is used to remind the driver whether the vehicle’s high beams are on. This indicator light comes on when the truck’s high beams are on. The driver should use the high beams correctly to avoid causing blind spots and interference to other vehicles, thereby affecting road safety.

12 ~ 13. Fog Light Indicator

When the truck’s front fog lights are turned on, the green front fog light indicator light comes on.
When the truck’s rear fog lights are turned on, the yellow rear fog light indicator light comes on.
Truck fog lights are used in fog, rain, snow and other poor visibility weather. Can provide additional lighting to help drivers see the road ahead.

14. Serious Alarm Indicator Lamp

When this warning light comes on, it indicates a truck system malfunction. At the same time, the corresponding fault alarm information can be queried in the alarm information to help maintenance personnel quickly locate and repair faults.

15. Adblue Indicator Lamp (Urea Level)

When the urea level is too low, the vehicle’s electronic control system will send out an alarm, and the urea warning light will light up to remind the driver that it is necessary to add urea solution. If this warning is ignored, it could cause the truck to malfunction or even stall suddenly.

16. Low Fuel Warning Light

When the oil level of the truck is lower than a certain height, the low fuel warning light lights up to remind the driver that refueling is required. Failure to refuel in time will cause the vehicle to stall.

17. Fuel Economy

This indicator light can assist the driver to better realize the fuel economy driving of the truck. Maintain good fuel economy while driving the truck. The light will stay green; otherwise, the light will turn yellow or red.

18. Air Filter Warning Light

This warning light comes on when the air filter needs to be cleaned or replaced. The air filter is an important part of the truck engine, it can filter the dust and other impurities in the air to protect the engine.

19. Cab Half-Lock Alarm Indicator Lamp

This warning light comes on when the cab is not in place and the shackle is not locked.

20 ~ 21. Engine Trouble Warning Light

If the indicator light comes on after the engine is started, it means that there is a malfunction in the engine system. When the color of the warning light is red, it means that the engine has a serious failure and needs to be stopped for inspection immediately. When the color of the warning light is yellow, it means that the engine has a slight fault, and the driver needs to pay attention and send it to the repair station for repair as soon as possible.

22. Low Range Indicator Lamp

This light comes on to indicate that the transmission is in low range. The low gear is used to provide greater traction and torque, and is suitable for driving on roads with slower driving speeds or more complicated driving conditions.

23. Tractor ABS Warning Light

This light will come on when the tractor truck’s ABS system is malfunctioning or needs service. The anti-lock braking system (ABS) can prevent the wheels from locking up during emergency braking and ensure the maximum adhesion between the wheels and the ground.

24. OBD Indicator Lamp (Exhaust Indication)

When the vehicle’s OBD system detects a fault or the truck’s exhaust emissions exceed the specified limit, the indicator will light up to remind the driver that inspection and repairs need to be carried out as soon as possible to ensure that the vehicle meets the emission standards and works normally.

25. Asr Indicator Lamp

This indicator light is on when the drive anti-skid control system fails. ASR can prevent the driving wheels from slipping when the truck starts and accelerates, and keeps the vehicle stable.

26. Coolant Level Warning Light

This light comes on when the coolant level is low. Coolant should be added in time. If you continue to drive, it will affect the heat dissipation of the engine and damage the engine.

27. Inter-Wheel Differential Lock Indicator Lamp

This indicator light is on when the inter-wheel differential lock is on. The inter-wheel differential lock is part of the truck drive system to increase wheel traction and improve the vehicle’s ability to drive on low-friction surfaces. However, when driving on ordinary roads, having the differential lock on may cause the truck to perform poorly and cause damage to the vehicle.

28. Bogie Differential Lock Indicator Lamp

When this light is on, it means that the bogie differential lock is activated. The bogie differential lock is mainly used to enhance the steering stability of the vehicle when driving at low speed or when turning in a curve.

29. ECAS Alarm

A warning light in the cockpit will illuminate when the truck’s Electronically Controlled Air Suspension System (ECAS) malfunctions or is abnormal. The ECAS system is used to control parameters such as the height and stiffness of the air suspension. When a failure occurs, it should be dealt with in time.

30. Lifting Axle

The indicator light is on when the Lifting axle is in motion. When the vehicle is lightly loaded, the lifting axle is lifted to keep the excess tires from contacting the road, thereby reducing tire wear and fuel consumption; when the vehicle is heavily loaded, the lifting axle is lowered to increase the contact between the tires and the road area, improve the traction and bearing capacity of the vehicle.

31. PTO

PTO provides additional power output by connecting to the engine output shaft, which can drive many additional equipment, such as concrete mixers, compressors, water pumps, cranes, etc. This indicator lights up during operation.

32. Exhaust Brake

This indicator light will come on when the exhaust brake system is activated. Exhaust brake is a braking system on a truck that slows down the vehicle by restricting engine exhaust and creating reverse pressure. This braking method is mainly used to reduce the burden on the brake, prolong the service life of the brake, and improve the braking efficiency.

33. Water Separator Alarm

When the indicator light is always on, it means that the oil-water separator needs to be drained; if the indicator light keeps flashing, it may be faulty and needs to be repaired or replaced. The water separator is a device used to separate water from fuel, and if too much water accumulates inside the water separator, it may cause insufficient fuel supply or cause engine failure.

34. Engine Warm-UP

Engine warm-up refers to the process of letting the engine run for a period of time to allow it to reach a suitable operating temperature during a cold start. The length of time this indicator light is on is related to the temperature of the engine. Engine preheating helps to protect the various components of the engine, reducing wear and damage, while also improving the combustion efficiency of the engine, reducing emissions and fuel consumption.

35. Cargo Body Lifting

When the Cargo body is raised or lowered, the light is on to remind the driver to pay attention to the status of the cargo box. The cargo body of the dump truck is lifted and lowered by hydraulic or mechanical devices. It is more convenient to use this device to load and unload goods.

36. Working Lamp Indicator Lamp

Work lights are mounted on the truck to illuminate the work area to facilitate working at night or in low light conditions. The light will be on when turned on.

37. Door Switch

When a door is closed, the door switch detects the state of the door and relays the information to the truck’s electrical system. If the doors are not closed or are not closed properly, the door switch light will be triggered.

38. Trailer ABS Warning Light

This indicator light will be on when the trailer ABS system fails. The trailer ABS system is used to prevent the tires from locking up during sudden braking, and to ensure the maximum adhesion between the wheels and the ground.

39. Steering Oil Level

When this light is on, it means that the oil level in the steering system is too low and needs to be refilled or checked for leaks.
