Mozambican Logistics Operator Orders 3-Axle 40ft Flatbed Semi-Trailers
The port of Beira in Mozambique serves as a vital shipping gateway for landlocked Southern African nations such as Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe. Facilitating efficient port-to-inland container transport requires rugged flatbed semi-trailers that can handle continuous heavy payloads without frame deflection. Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting a senior operations delegation from a prominent Maputo-based freight shipping operator.
The Haulage Challenge: High Payloads and Cross-Border Corridors
The client’s operational team highlighted key requirements during initial consultations:
Frame Deflection Under Heavy Loads: Low-grade trailers often suffer permanent main beam sagging when carrying fully loaded 40ft or twin 20ft ISO containers.
Twist Lock Wear and Tear: Inferior twist locks fail under severe transit vibration, creating hazardous conditions on international transit corridors.
Axle and Suspension Stress: Rough border-crossing access roads place immense shear force on axle kingpins and mechanical suspension hangers.

Engineering Tailored Flatbed Solutions
Our semi-trailer design unit showcased specialized structural improvements integrated into our standard 3-axle 40ft flatbed model to resolve these structural strain points.
1. High-Tensile Steel Main Beam (Q345B / T700)
Our main beams are constructed using submerged arc automatic welding technology. The top flange (14mm), bottom flange (16mm), and middle web plate (8mm) are optimized using high-strength steel to achieve maximum payload capacity (up to 60 tons) while preventing longitudinal sagging over extended service life.
2. Heavy-Duty Container Twist Lock Mechanism
Each flatbed semi-trailer features 12 ISO twist locks forged from heat-treated alloy steel. This layout allows flexible loading options: carrying one 40ft container, two 20ft containers, or one 20ft container positioned in the middle.
3. Reinforced Suspension and Axle Configurations
To absorb road shock across unpaved inland border roads, we fitted heavy-duty 13-ton FUWA axles coupled with 10-leaf spring suspension system and reinforced equalizing balance arms.
Inspection and Load-Bearing Demonstration
The delegation inspected the complete production lifecycle—from steel plate cutting to final shot-blasting and anti-corrosive primer coating.
During the inspection, our technicians conducted a static load test on a finished unit. A 50-ton test weight was placed directly onto the flatbed deck. Frame deflection was recorded in real time using laser sensors, proving that the beam returned to zero distortion immediately upon unloading.
“The quality of the submerged arc welding and the structural thickness of the main beam are far superior to standard commercial offerings,” stated the visiting Operations Director. “This structural strength is exactly what we need for long-haul routes across Southern Africa.”

Contract Formalization
Satisfied with the live load test results and precise assembly standards, the client signed a firm agreement for 25 units of 3-axle 40ft flatbed semi-trailers, scheduled for expedited shipping via Ro-Ro vessel to Beira Port.
